Radical Greetings to Everyone
My name is Dj Makeshyft, a new
contributor to the content at Emagine Audiovisual. I am a guy on decks that is
always experimenting with sound – without limitations by any sense of the word.
I am a lover of many kinds of music – more-so, it’s sound. I
use music as a “vibrationary” tool and therefore to me it is more about the
feelings that come with the music as I experience it. I believe that an
experience stored in the mind is easier remembered when there is a soundtrack with
it. This is why I try to ensure that I have music with me everywhere I am. I
even curate a lot of the soundtrack for EAV’s playlists.
I come from a school of nothing but the best in sounds
(however subjective) – in terms of the music I grew up on. My father brought us
up on mostly jazz, which he introduced my mother to – who was and is a huge fan
of Zion Christian hymns and songs. So you can imagine the sounds that came
together to train my ear. This has been by far the biggest gift my parents gave
to me as an individual growing up in the musical spheres of the world.
So, I can’t remember the amount of times I changed this mix
while waiting for our 2 guys (Njabz & Dr. E) to
return from an excursion to Zimbabwe. There was a threat of the border closing,
which caused us a bit of a panic – jeeze, right? Anyway, I finally came down to
these couple of tracks that sound to me more-or-less like a paragraph or essay
through their lyrics. They were all well-fitting together, with an almost
perfect timing to my experience of the moment (or moments). I would like
therefore to dedicate this mix to all lovely women who love good music. Don’t
get me wrong, the mix is made for everyone’s ears but it is still a dedication.
I am fortunate enough to have encountered many women of strength
in my lifetime for which I am highly grateful. There is a universe to learn
from the opposite sex and for me, this has been a time where the lessons have
been both timeless and boundless.
This mix is a roller-coaster, meant to shift the spirit of
anyone listening to it. It is meant to move it’s listener into a transformed
state. A state filled with the willingness to move and drive change in
whichever way is their gift. It is also a way of sending some coping vibes to
deal with the effects of this COVID19 crisis.
